Sampling should represent the shipment rather than one convenient package. Record size, colour, breakage, foreign matter, odour and signs of pest activity, then add moisture or food-safety testing where the product and destination require it.
Inspect bags, cartons, liners and pallets for strength and suitability for the route. Batch labels, net weight and dates should be legible and consistent with the documents.
Keep the inspection record with images and the lot identifier. That file supports shipment acceptance, discrepancy review and supplier comparison in the next buying cycle.
